GIMP is a professional digital photo editor and is the open source answer to Adobe PhotoshopGIMP has much of the same functionality that Photoshop has, ranging from being used as a simple paint program, a photo retouching program, an image renderer, or an image format converter.

If you don't want to pay the high price for Photoshop, GIMP is a great alternative with virtually the same functionality.
